TransferLLM ("we", "our", "the Tool") is a utility that helps users securely transfer their chat history from ChatGPT to Gemini or Claude. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and store data.
Information we collect
1.1 Email address (website signup)
When you submit your email address on our website, we collect:
- Your email address, stored securely in a Google Sheet.
We use your email solely to:
- Send you the download link for the desktop utility
- Provide onboarding instructions and essential communication related to the tool
We do not sell, rent, or share your email with any third parties.
1.2 Device and technical information
We collect certain information about your device automatically, including unique device identifiers (such as Machine ID), to ensure the security of your account and to manage software licensing.
The machine ID is anonymised using SHA-256 so that the original ID is never stored in plain text.
Tool authorisation & account access
2.1 Authentication
To function, TransferLLM requires you to sign in and grant access through the official OAuth flows of ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), and Claude (Anthropic). This access is required so the tool can retrieve your conversations, export the content, and import the chats into the destination tool.
2.2 What we access
With your explicit permission, the tool may access:
- Your source LLM chat history
- Necessary metadata to format and export your conversations
- Permission to write and import content into the destination AI tool
2.3 What we do not access
- Any other content or data in your OpenAI, Google or Anthropic accounts
- Your chat history on any server — it is never stored
- Your login credentials, API tokens, or passwords
- Any shared or sold form of your chat data
All credentials are handled through official OAuth provider flows and used only for the duration of the transfer session.
How your data is used
3.1 Email data
Your email is used to deliver your download link, provide essential updates about TransferLLM, and offer support when requested.
3.2 Chat data
Your conversation data is retrieved directly from the source AI tool during your authorised session, transferred securely into the destination tool, and not stored, logged, or retained by TransferLLM.
We act strictly as a transient data conduit. Your chats are processed in-memory only — nothing persists on our side.
Data storage & security
4.1 Email storage
Your email is stored in a private Google Sheet with restricted access.
4.2 Chat transfer
- Chat data is never stored long-term
- Data is processed in-memory for the sole purpose of transferring content
- OAuth tokens are handled securely and discarded after use
4.3 No retention on cloud
- All chats are processed, encrypted and stored on your device only
- Your chat content is never transmitted to, stored by, or seen by TransferLLM's servers
